One of our supporters — a family practice doctor currently working in the Chicago area — recently sent us a cold-call mailing he had received from notorious abortionists Vinod and Vijay Goyal, a husband-and-wife team who own and operate more surgical abortion clinics than anyone else in Illinois.

The letter [PDF] begins:

Dear Dr. ________,

We realize that it can be difficult to find a truly professional medical facility to refer your patients to for pregnancy termination services. Please allow me to introduce these State Licensed, outpatient surgery centers of www.IllinoisAbortion.com.

Clearly, then, the purpose of this mailing is to drum up business.

But think about it: When does an owner have to drum up business? When business is down — which means, in this case, when abortions are down.

And we know abortions are down in Illinois. In fact, between 2008 and 2011, abortions were down 18% statewide, during which time the Pro-Life Action League was stepping up our pro-life activist efforts in the Chicago area, where the vast majority of the state’s abortion clinics are located.

We also know that during this same time period, the Goyals closed one of their abortion clinics (Dimensions, located in the Chicago suburb of Des Plaines), because he knew it would have never passed a state inspection.

Vinod and Vijay Goyal have also had some significant financial troubles as of late.  Without a doubt, they’re hurting for business, or else they wouldn’t have sent out this mailing.

Huge Employee Turnover at Chicago Area Abortion Clinics

An examination of the Goyal-owned facilities’ license applications in recent years also reveals significant employee turnover [PDF] at all six of their facilities.  For but one example: Access Health Center in Downers Grove had 16 personnel staff members in 2012. Of these 16, only four are still there, and the overall number of personnel staff has been cut to 11.

Which leads to the mailing’s other purpose.  It doubles as a want ad:

The centers are also recruiting part-time Physicians in the following specialties: Obstetrics/Gynecology, Uro-Gynecology, Urology, Gastroenterology, Infertility and Anesthesiology. [emphasis in the original]

Abortion supporters have been wringing their hands for years about a shortage of abortionists — due in large part to the fact that most doctors want to be subject to pro-life protests about as much as they want a malpractice suit.

When one of a large region’s major abortionists has to send out a cold-call mailing looking for new recruits, it gives you an idea of how acute the shortage is.
