THE HORRORS OF THE ORWELLIAN NIGHTMARE HAVE ARRIVED
TORONTO - (LSN) IVF Canada, the clinic that brought the in-vito fertilization process to Canada, has just offered Canadian the opportunity to screen out unwanted babies.
The Globe and Mail reported today that the clinic allows parents to "weed out genetically defective embryos". Recalling that these embryos are human beings and by weeding them out refers to killing them, the Globe needs to hear from pro-lifers about their anti-life ruminations.
Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis, as the procedure is known, involves allowing embryos to expanded to about eight cells then taking one cell from every embryo and analyzing it for the genetic abnormalities. The defective embryos (babies) are then disposed of (murdered).
The quotes from the researchers and so-called ethicists were most alarming...
"This is the beginning of the end of genetic disease...That's the dream of medicine. It's our dream. This should have the same impact antibiotics did to bacterial disease." Dr. Phillips - IVF Canada
"it can be socially responsible not to bring a child into the world who is fated to suffer terribly from a genetic disease. In fact under certain circumstances it can be morally irresponsible to have children..." Eike Kluge - professor of bioethics at the University of Victoria and a member of the B.C. government's special advisory committee on ethical issues.
"It might have the effect of producing a superior breed of humans." Arthur Schafer, director of the Centre for Professional and Applied Ethics at the University of Manitoba.
