NEW GENERATION FOR LIFE
TROUDSBURG, Pa., Jan 30 (LSN) - Last week the New York Times reported on a rock concert called "Rock for Life." The event, organized by Chris Francz, a "hard-core" music fan, is one of a series founded by Bryan Kemper to counter "Rock for Choice" (pro-abortion Rock musicians who hold concerts to raise money to support abortion). Young people packed the concert hall as eight rock bands played loud music but interspersed their numbers with pro-life messages.
Cathy Brown, the 26-year-old daughter of Judy Brown, founder of American Life League, spoke to the crowd during a break. Brown told the group "Every day, 4,400 children are killed by surgical abortion. This is your generation, you guys." "One-third of your generation are gone. It's your brothers and sisters and friends who would have been here today," she said. Brown was received warmly, and proceeds from the concert will go to support a storefront counselling office to helping women to avoid the horrors of abortion.
The Times described the youths as believing abortion is a "violation of human rights far more heinous than slavery," talking about it as a "holocaust". The concert was also unique for the absence of alcohol, drugs, or sexual overtones. Band members and fans passed around Bibles and pro-abstinence information.
PRO-FAMILY BELIZE: A BREATH OF FRESH AIR
BELIZE CITY, Belize, Jan 30 (LSN) - On Tuesday, the Belize Minister of Tourism and Environment, Henry Young, received a healthy round of protest from all sectors of Belizian society for allowing a homosexual cruise ship to dock for a six hour stay. Belizean law states that homosexual sex acts are illegal and further prohibits immigration by practicing homosexuals and also those who make money from homosexual behavior.
The Council of Management of the Belize National Teachers' Union expressed concern for children in a press release published in "Belize Times." The teacher's union said it "condemns the unnatural practice of homosexuality and is deeply concerned that this decision of the Ministry of Tourism may open the floodgates to similar requests from persons of such sexual orientation". The teachers noted that the situation may also encourage "the local gay community making their demands on Government for legislation to openly advance their lifestyle". "We realize, as educators, that the psychological and moral environment to which we expose our children is very fragile and in need of protection." A Belize Times op-ed piece also felt strongly that accepting the cruise is a violation of national law.
Letters of protest also poured in to the Belizean newspaper "Amandala." The Association of Evangelican Churches, Belmopan Branch, called Young's decision "deplorable," pointing out that, "The irreparable damage by open homosexuality before the eyes of our children can never be compensated by the money these people will spend in Belize." Lloyd Stanford, president of the Baptist Association of Belize wrote, "a decision such as the one you have taken to give a national welcome to gays is also giving national approval to the gay movement in Belize -- not just for six hours, but it will expose our people and influence our children to a most unwanted lifestyle."
UPDATE ON ALABAMA ABORTUARY BOMBING
BIRMINGHAM, Jan 30 (LSN) - After the bomb exploded in the Alabama clinic Thursday, police handcuffed and took a man into custody. That man was innocent pro-lifer Minzor Chadwick whose arrest by police was carried around the world by television reporters hungry for a pro-life prey. Chadwick, 57, was questioned for more than six hours by detectives and federal agents. A faithful pro-life activist, Chadwick has protested at the clinic for about 10 years holding a sign reading "Abortion Kills Children" and passing out pro-life literature across the street from the abortion mill. "I'm not for killing people," he said. "I'm pro-life and what happened today wasn't pro-life."
Pro-life groups across the country condemned the violence. Family Research Council President Gary Bauer pointed out that such acts of violence injure the pro-life cause. The National Coalition for Life and Peace, a nationwide coalition of pro-life organizations and individuals that oppose abortion- related violence, also spoke out against the violence. Coordinator Steven Ertelt said, "abortion- related violence has no place in the right-to-life movement or our country and pro-life people will continue to only engage in peaceful, legal activities which will protect life." David Lackey, who heads Birmingham Operation Rescue, called the bombing a "deplorable act," and said, "this is against everything we stand for." However, pro-abortion groups such as Planned Parenthood were quick to exploit the incident and place blame on the same groups, which so fervently condemned the violence.
The American Jewish Congress also foisted blame on pro-lifers, in a press release saying, "Once again, a 'Right to Life' zealot has inflicted indiscriminate death." In Boston, Massachusetts, legislators used the occasion to introduce a bill to create a legal buffer zone around abortion clinics.
Never, in the secular media could it be hinted that perhaps a disgruntled victim of abortion who changed his or her mind after the fact might be responsible.
MICROSOFT‘S BILL GATES OFFERS $1 BILLION TO UN
NEW YORK, Jan 30 (LSN) -- Billionaire-Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates revealed on ABC's "20/20" (to be broadcast tonight), that he expected to match or do better than the $1 billion donation offered to the United Nations last year by CNN mogul Ted Turner. Gates' money, like Turner's, will likely be used to promote "population control".
Last year, The Village Voice, reported that three of the richest men in the US (Ted Turner, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet) strongly supported population control. Noting Ted Turner's 1 billion dollar donation to the UN was likely to be most appreciated by the UN Population Fund, the paper reported, ``no sooner had Turner announced his gift than Nafis Sadik, the fund's executive director, hailed the donation in a press release''. Turner was also said to have contributed about $3 million to population groups in the past year, beyond the $1 billion promise.
Bill Gates was listed as having given $2.25 million to the Department of Population Dynamics at Johns Hopkins University, as well as millions to other population groups like PATH, a Seattle-based family-planning group. And Warren Buffet, was reported, just pior to his death to have made "overpopulation" a primary cause for his foundation, as well as having paid $2 million to fund research on RU-486, the abortion pill.
It appears that the UN and its supporters have found a way of going around the US Congress's unwillingness to fund an inneficient, corrupt and anti-life UN. The United Nations used to be accountable only to nations and rely on them for the financing of its international initiatives. It is now becoming dangerously independent with this growing trend of multi-billionaires funding and promoting UN agendas. Will the name eventually change from UN to UMC for United Multinational Corportions?
