STEPHEN LEWIS RUMOURED FOR GOVERNOR GENERAL
OTTAWA, Aug 20 (LSN) - Stephen Lewis, former Canadian Ambassador to the UN and no friend of unborn children, is resigning from his four year held position as deputy executive director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The Globe and Mail speculated yesterday that Lewis may be a candidate to fill the Governor General's post after Romeo LeBlanc resigns later this year.
Prior to the passage of the Omnibus Bill in 1969, which legalized abortion in Canada, Lewis was an outspoken abortion promoter. As Ontario leader of the socialist New Democratic Party he influenced the party to a hard line on abortion, stifling all pro-life protest. Lewis' wife is Toronto Star columnist Michele Landsberg, an extremely outspoken advocate of abortion and radical feminism and venomous opponent of family values.
