BUDGET RETAINS TAX DISCRIMINATION AGAINST FAMILIES
OTTAWA, Feb 17 (LSN) Families in Canada were disturbed to learn yesterday that the federal budget will continue to discriminate against families despite the public outcry against the unfairness. The child-care deduction, that only benefits families who use government-sanctioned daycare facilities, actively discourages parents from staying home to raise their own children. The federal budget has still not addressed the tax discrimination that allows unmarried working couples to enjoy a lower tax rate than a married couple with one wage earner with equivalent total family income.
Pro-family leaders contend that the Liberal government has a deliberate policy to penalize traditional family life. "Nothing else makes sense of their constant refusal to correct the tax discrimination against married couples with children, especially if only one is working," said Steve Jalsevac, a Toronto director of Campaign Life Coalition.
CHILD SUPPORT CASE RECOGNIZES RIGHTS OF PREBORN CHILDREN
TORONTO, Feb 17 (LSN) In an unprecedented ruling last week, Judge Hugh O'Connell of the Ontario Court's General Division ordered Mark Tatoff to pay for the prenatal expenses of his pregnant girlfriend Andrea Danovitch. Prior to this ruling, support payments had only been awarded once the baby had been born. Hence, this case recognizes preborn children as having rights.
Grant Gold, a Toronto family lawyer interviewed by the Globe and Mail, noted that the judge in the case "is saying that as soon as you are conceived, you are a child for the purposes of support." "This is the first case where a fetus has been treated as a child, he said.
MOTHER CARRIES BABY TO TERM DESPITE DOCTORS URGINGS
PHILADELPHIA, Feb 17 (LSN) - Joan Daniel, 42, gave birth on St. Valentine's Day to a healthy baby after rejecting the advice of doctors who urged her to abort the child even up to the 24th week of her pregnancy. Doctors believed that since Daniel suffered from a rare disease, her chances of surviving delivery would be increased if she aborted her baby and made sure her condition was under control before getting pregnant again.
With the belief that "God wouldn't allow this to happen if he didn't believe I could pull through it," Daniel rejected the advice and gave birth to Reginald Valentina Daniel II, at Temple University Hospital.

TURNER: GLOBAL "ONE-CHILD POLICY" NEEDED
Population Control Godfather Speaks Again
WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb 17 (LSN) Yesterday, at a meeting of the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association (NHPRHA), TV mogul Ted Turner called for an international "one- child policy." While making degrading jokes about the Ten Commandments, Pope John Paul II and Ronald Reagan, Turner spouted the usual paranoid population control propaganda suggesting that world population must be cut by more than half to "about 2 billion."
The more time he has on his hands the more arrogant Mr. Turner appears to get. "People who think like us may be in the minority, but we're the smart ones," he said. Waxing eloquent, he said opponents of population control are "a whole bunch of dummies," reported the Washington Times.
Typical of the movers and shakers behind the international population control movement, Turner uses every means available to further his depopulation agenda. This includes abortion, contraception and sterilization, especially in the third world. It also includes relationships to advance the non-reproductive agendas of the feminist and homosexualist movements. The success of these lobbies, however, is completely dependent on their role in advancing the overall goal of depopulation. Thus, the individuals in these groups are often expendable.
A shining example was reported Monday when feminist Gloria Allred revealed that Turner's CNN banned her from the last seven months of Clinton/Lewinsky coverage. Matt Drudge reported that Allred frequently appeared on CNN since its inception in 1980, but her calling for the resignation of US President Clinton based on his ethical misconduct in the Lewinsky affair made her persona non grata with CNN.
THE MONEY BEHIND THE RIGHT-TO-DIE
WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb 17 (LSN) The January Foundation Watch report of the Capital Research Center exposes some of the major donors pushing the pro-death movement in the US. Patrick Reilly, author of the study, reveals that millions of dollars are pumped into the movement by prominent foundations such as the Columbia Foundation, the Greenwall Foundation, the Walter & Elise Haas Fund and George Soros' Open Society Institute. The leading funder of advocates for physician- assisted suicide, though, is the San Francisco-based Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation which funnels money through non-profit organizations for undisclosed efforts to promote "death with dignity."

YAHOO AND MICROSOFT DISCRIMINATE AGAINST JAMAICAN RESORT
Caribbean spa does not accept same-sex couples
INTERNET, Feb 17 (LSN) Microsoft and Yahoo showed complete intolerance for a resort which was said to restrict accommodations to heterosexual couples. According to a CNET story, Microsoft's MSN Expedia travel site and two sites offering promotions through Yahoo, offered a sweepstakes promising a "romantic getaway" for two at the Sandals resort in Jamaica. When the companies learned of the heterosexual-couple only policy they reacted quickly and with indignation.
Both Microsoft and Yahoo removed links to, and promotions of the Sandals resort and also referred to the Sandals policy as "discriminatory." While the company does not shine brightly in the eyes of pro-family groups since it does not insist on married couples only, the intolerance demonstrated by Yahoo and Microsoft is considered remarkable.
