CHINA VOWS TO CONTINUE ONE-CHILD POLICY

BEIJING, Oct 12 (LSN.ca) - Apologists for China's one-child policy were speaking today to justify their notorious anti-child program with the UN's declaration of the birth of the world's 6 billionth member. The South China Morning Post quoted Professor Zheng Xiaoying, of Beijing University as saying that "Without the strict assertion of the rigid one-child policy on Chinese couples, the world's population would have passed six billion four years or at least three years ago." Playing on Malthusean fears using misinformation, Professor Lin Fuda, of the People's University, said "If the Government manages to exercise tight control on population growth, China might still be able to be self-sufficient in grain and food supply by then (2031)."
