UNITED NATIONS, Oct 29 (LSN.ca) - Yesterday the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) joined three other UN organizations to launch a global policy on "safe motherhood." UNICEF participated in a joint statement by the World Health Organization (WHO), the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and the World Bank, launching the program at a press conference at UN Headquarters in New York. According to the statement, "safe motherhood can be advanced by respecting existing human rights and by empowering women to make reproductive choices with family and community support." According to UN documentation, "safe motherhood" includes provision of abortion.

A UN paper by UN "expert" Dr. Mahmoud Fathalla notes that "fertility regulation is a major element in any safe motherhood strategy." At the 1994 Cairo Conference, the World Health Organization defined "fertility regulation" as "the process by which individuals and couples regulate their fertility. Methods that can be used for this purpose include, amongst others: delaying childbearing, using contraception, seeking treatment for infertility, interrupting unwanted pregnancies and breast-feeding." "Interruption of unwanted pregnancy" is obviously abortion.

Thus UNICEF is joining in a program which includes providing abortion, and contraception while deceptively calling their program a "safe motherhood" campaign. Campaign Life Coalition Canada urges pro-lifers not to donate money to UNICEF via Halloween boxes.
