CWL PRESIDENT SENDS LETTER TO MP'S ON MARCH OF WOMEN

OTTAWA, Aug 3 (LSN.ca) - Sheila Pellerin, National President of the Catholic Women's League (CWL) sent a letter to all members of parliament on behalf of the CWL last month supporting the March of Women. Pellerin draws MP's attention to the fact that the CWL has "in excess of 105,000 members represented in every province and territory and the military." She goes on to use the full clout of the CWL to support the radically feminist World March of Women 2000. Pellerin fails to mention the bitter dispute among CWL members regarding the March and also fails to note that whole provincial chapters of the organization have resolved to abstain from the controversial event. Rather she insists that participation in the March "was deemed imperative."

CWL members who spoke to LifeSite anonymously pointed out that the timing of Pellerin's letter was suspicious given that it comes just a month before the CWL national convention is set to discuss the issue. The timing is also strange given the fact that parliament is not now in session and is to resume only in September.

In her letter Pellerin does point out to the MP's that the CWL is not in favour of the abortion demand presented by the March, but she does not disassociate the CWL from the pro-homosexual marriage or other objectionable demands of the March which run contrary to the Catholic faith.
