Violent Youth Crime Up 77% in Canada

OTTAWA, Jan 18 (LSN.ca) - Late last month Statistics Canada reported that over the last ten years, violent crime has risen 77% among youth in Canada.

The above research is at polar opposites with the American research report on crime released last fall indicating that crime was at it's lowest in 20 years in the United States, and alleging that abortion may be the champion of the cause. Here in Canada, youth crime is up, and significantly so. Abortion can therefore in no way be touted as having any kind of positive impact on Canadian society, as Dr. Henry Morgentaler very publicly alleged upon the release of the American report. It is important that this myth be just as publicly dismantled.

The increase in violent youth crime is most notable amongst adolescent girls 12 to 17 years of age (up 127%, from 2.1 per 1000 population in 1988 to 4.7 in 1998), but the rise amongst boys is also noteworthy (65%, from 8 per 1000 population in 1988 to 13.1 in 1998).
