RUBBERIZING AFRICA AND THE FINANCING OF GENOCIDE
PROVO, Utah, July 18 (LSN.ca) - Carol Ugochukwu, President of United Families of Africa in Enugu, Nigeria, commented in an interview with Mary Mostert of Original Sources that Western delegations at the United Nations are trying to "exterminate the whole race" with their promotion of condoms. The comments are reminiscent of remarks made by Canada's General Romeo D'Allaire, head of the UN peacekeeping force in Rwanda. After the Rwandan massacre Dallaire reported that peacekeepers referred to the "rubberizing of Africa" by the West in reference to the fact that medical stores were filled to overflowing with condoms and other contraceptives provided by the UN and other aid agencies, but were empty of desperately needed drugs and medical supplies.
Ugochukwu expressed exasperation that Canada, the US and Europe wasted most of the time at UN conferences trying to gain approval for homosexuality while the needs of African women such as food, shelter, and clean drinking water were largely ignored. She also said "big organizations spend so much money, but when they find out you are dealing with all that [dying children and mothers] they are not interested. You have to say you are dealing with reproductive rights before you are given support."
Reacting to the overt demands for population control, Ugodhukwu explained, "When you have ten children, in my own area, it is a BIG celebration in the town center and people come with presents... Children are so precious to us. Life is so precious to us. Why do we have to bring it down? Why should political people from the West give us another agenda?"
On condoms she said, "today, [Westerners] now come in with condoms - condoms are everywhere! They spend so much money on condoms and they make our children promiscuous. They say it will stop AIDS - but it is getting worse! It makes no sense to me."
While family planning advocates in the West wax eloquent about assisting the poor to plan their families, Africans see the genocidal intent of the programs clearly. "I believe that all that is to exterminate the whole race. Yes! Yes! To extinguish us! ... And that is why they are spending so much money on birth control!," said Ugochukwu.
