FORMER CANADIAN PM BASHES CHURCH STAND ON ABORTION

HAMILTON, July 17 (LSN.ca) - Interviewed on radio in Hamilton last week, former Canadian Prime Minister and current leader of the Progressive Conservative Party Joe Clark was asked by a caller about his faith and stand on abortion and homosexuality. Clark responded by saying that he is Roman Catholic, then proceeded to list the churches he regularly attends while in Ottawa or at home in Calgary. On homosexuality he said parliament is not re-defining marriage, but merely extending benefits to same-sex couples. With regard to abortion he said he was pro-choice.

When asked how he reconciles his Catholicism with support for abortion, Clark responded "I, and thousands and thousands and thousands of other Catholics support a woman's right to choose."
