ROME, June 13 (LSN.ca) - On the first night of the World Gay Pride event in Rome this July 1-8 there will be a 10pm torch-lit procession through the streets of the city in protest against the homosexual activist event. EWTN news reports that a number of Catholic organizations have initiated the procession. The move has also received support from Italian politicians.

Catholic World News reports that opponents of the World Gay Pride event warn that the gay event is just 'the tip of the Iceberg' in the attempt by homosexual activists to impose their alternative "lifestyles" as a natural part of Italian society. A Datamedia poll reveals that 60% of Italians believe that the Gay Pride event should not be held in Rome, and 63% disagree with the timing of the event. Only 19% were in favor of the event and its timing.
