SHARE: E-mail E-MAIL  Print PRINT

GRAND NARROWS, Nova Scotia, Mar 6 (LSN.ca) - Andrew Fournier, the nineteen year Ontario pro- lifer who is walking across Canada to raise awareness and garner support for the pro-life movement took a day of rest Friday after walking 50 km on the first two days of his journey. After being graciously hosted in a Catholic Church in Boisdale, NS, Wednesday night, on Thursday he made the difficult trip to Christmas Island, much of which was up hill. There he stayed with the Farrell family.

Friday Andrew stayed at a local Bed and Breakfast and began his journey again Saturday. Local papers have given press coverage. The Inverness Oran News ran an article on Andrew and the reasons for his trek Friday and the Cape Breton Post has scheduled an interview with him this week.

Photos of Andrew's walk thus far and video footage will soon be made available on LifeSite which will also shortly feature a page dedicated to the Pilgrimage for Life.

TIME TO TALK TO PHARMACISTS MARCH 6-12

SHARE: E-mail E-MAIL  Print PRINT

OTTAWA, Mar 6 (LSN.ca) - This week, March 6-12, is National Pharmacy Awareness week, an excellent opportunity for pro-lifers to engage in active participation in the boycott of Roberts Pharmaceuticals, Shire Pharmaceuticals, and Paladin Labs products as well as the pharmacies which carry abortifacient "emergency contraception". The promotional week encourages people to "Talk to your Pharmacist" about any health care issue of concern.

It is suggested that you tell the pharmacist you believe in the sanctity of life beginning at fertilization and you understand that some drugs recently made available namely Preven and Plan B act, at least sometimes, to destroy the life of the child after fertilization. Ask the pharmacist for confirmation of this point with supporting literature if possible. And inform them that you wish to avoid Roberts and Paladin and would appreciate similar products by other companies. Further ask if the pharmacy carries these same abortifacient drugs and if so encourage a reconsideration so that you may once again give them your business.

For information on the boycott, the companies, and the products see:

CARDINAL: ENVIRONMENTALIST ANTI-CHRIST "WALKS AMONG US"

SHARE: E-mail E-MAIL  Print PRINT

BOLOGNA, Italy, Mar 6 (LSN.ca) - The London Times reported that Cardinal Giacomo Biffi, 71, the Archbishop of Bologna spoke recently at a conference in Bologna, on the work of Vladimir Solovyov (1853-1900), the Russian philosopher and mystic. Part of the cardinal's talk focussed on Antichrist, which the cardinal described as "walking among us." The evil would harbor a false ecumenism promoting "vague and fashionable spiritual values." Antichrist would substitute "feel-good" causes, such as animal rights, environmentalism, ecology and humanitarian aid, for "true religion".

Interestingly, the terms which the Archbishop of Bologna uses to describe Antichrist are all in vogue euphemisms for those espousing a population control mentality. The movement for depopulation has become increasingly anti-religion. At the 1996 State of the World Forum, the meeting of affluent dignitaries led by Mikhail Gorbachev, which focuses on population control, the sentiment against religion was strongly expressed. In the closing plenary session of the forum, philosopher/author Sam Keen provided a summary and conclusive remarks on the conference. Among the conference participants, said Keen, "there was very strong agreement that religious institutions have to take primary responsibility for the population explosion. We must speak far more clearly about sexuality, about contraception, about abortion, about the values that control the population, because the ecological crisis, in short, is the population crisis. Cut the population by 90 percent and there aren't enough people left to do a great deal of ecological damage."

PRO-ABORTION "CATHOLIC" STUDENTS FINED AND SUSPENDED

SHARE: E-mail E-MAIL  Print PRINT

PROVIDENCE, RI, Mar 6 (LSN.ca) - Senior Daniel Pastrana, junior Patrick Moran and sophomore Christopher White, three students at the Catholic institution, Providence College were fined $1,000 each and suspended for the semester after being caught last month posting pro- abortion fliers containing a picture of the Virgin Mary on the main door of a campus building. The fliers contained a picture of a Mary and a caption reading ''How's this for an immaculate concept: Keep Abortion Safe and Legal.''

On Feb 15 college president, Rev. Philip Smith, wrote the student body about the incident saying, ''the deliberate misuse of a venerated person and an important Catholic and Christian belief in support of a position that is opposed to Catholic moral doctrine is deplorable and offensive to many on campus.'' The students have appealed the decision and are remaining on campus awaiting the administrations decision on the appeal.
