RENOWNED ANIMAL RIGHTS GROUP BACKS BESTIALITY PROPOSAL
SAN FRANCISCO, Mar 29, 2001 (LSN.ca) - PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, known for provocative ads against eating meat claiming foolishly that Jesus was a vegetarian, has come out in favour of bestiality. Debra J. Saunders of the San Francisco Chronicle interviewed PETA after animal rights activist and Princeton Professor Peter Singer endorsed bestiality in a recent article.
PETA president Ingrid Newkirk said of the Singer's piece, "It's daring and honest and it does not do what some people read into it, which is condone any violent acts involving an animal, sexual or otherwise." Saunders relates that Newkirk wants America to know that Singer does not advocate sex that kills or damages animals or requires them to be restrained. When asked if animals could consent to sex, Newkirk's defence of the deranged professor continued. "It sounds like this is an attempt to make this so narrow and so unintellectual in its focus. You know, Peter Singer is an intellectual, and he looks at all nuances of an issue." And: "The whole concept of consent with animals is very different."
Professor Singer while being a staunch animal rights activist endorses abortion and infanticide - at least for disabled infants.
