ARTICLE BLASTS CHRISTIANS FOR PERMITTING THE DECLINE OF U.S. CULTURE
Both Catholic and major Protestant denominations
LIFESITE, August 15, 2002 (LSN.ca) - WorldNetDaily author David Kupelian in his article, Why are Christians losing America, bluntly calls U.S. Christians to task for standing on the sidelines during the paganizing and corruption of American culture. The article credits author John W. Chalfant in his book Abandonment Theology for identifying that this decline has been accelerated by the deliberate withdrawal from public affairs by many Christians.
Kupelian states that the Catholic Church sex scandals are part of this process whereby Christians are even "losing the war for their very own institutions - their churches".
Some Canadian pro-life and pro-family leaders believe that Kupelian and Chalfant's charges also apply to Canadian Christians. Such things as the passive support by Christians for Jean Chretien, the autocratic, politically corrupt Prime Minister and other destructive politicians has bewildered faithful Christians for years.
As for the U.S., Kupelian states that most Americans call themselves Christians and yet "Twice they chose as their supreme leader Bill Clinton - a sexual predator and pathological liar who regarded the 'religious right' as enemies and radical homosexuals as friends, and who by any meaningful and historical measure was a traitor. After that, millions of Christians came within a hair's breadth of electing Clinton's partner in crime, Al Gore - another pathological liar, a radical environmentalist who reveres "Gaia" but believes the internal-combustion engine should be outlawed".
The article continues that "Christians have lost their former influence in politics, in the press, in entertainment, in literature - in virtually every major area of life. Both the Catholic Church and most of the major Protestant denominations are literally being ripped apart - from within - by double agents who pretend to be 'faithful' but actually loathe Christianity's historical precepts and values."
In the end, Kupelian indicates there is a need for a Christian revival and for Christians of all denominations "to go take a good, long, hard look at themselves in the mirror" and then turn to "God for help, for insight, for direction."
