MAGAZINES SAY CANADA'S FOREIGN MINISTER HAD SEXUAL AFFAIR WITH 15-YEAR-OLD MALE PROSTITUTE

Claim Canada's Foreign Minister Is An Admitted Bisexual

OTTAWA, February 19, 2002 (LSN.ca) - Canada's newly appointed Foreign Affairs Minister, Bill Graham, is a darling of the homosexual activist community having constantly supported pro-homosexuality initiatives including homosexual marriage. However, last year a Toronto-based homosexual magazine called Fab published an interview with Lawrence Metherel, a former male prostitute, who claimed to have had a sexual relationship with the Graham, dating back to 1980 when Metherel was 15.

The story has gone unchallenged by Graham's constituency office, which admitted to LifeSite that it had heard of the story. As a result the issue has become a major embarrassment for Canada as it was picked up in the US publication Front Page Magazine, which repeated the allegations Feb 14 in a story entitled "Bill Graham: Canada's Latest Shame."

The mainstream press in Canada has touched on the issue in a secondhand fashion as the TorStar corporation's Eye weekly Toronto paper has come out in defense of Graham. Eye columnist Sky Gilbert wrote on Feb 14 that "the first thing you need to know is that Bill Graham is gay," and goes on to say that any interest in Graham's controversial past is evidence of homophobia.

While his bio on the website of the Department of Foreign Affairs says: "He and his wife Catherine have two children: Katherine Helen and Patrick William," Eye says, "Almost everyone in the gay community knows that Graham is gay." Moreover, Eye calls Metherel "an ex-boyfriend of Graham's" and Graham's "spurned lover."

Canadian delegations to the United Nations, under previous foreign affairs Ministers, have been one of the world leaders in pushing a mandated radical sexual agenda on the rest of the world, with total disregard for national cultural and religious traditions. Mr. Graham's appointment begs the question of just how much further the Liberal government is determined to advance this agenda.

Calls to the Press Secretary of Minister Graham were not returned by press time.

MEXICO SUPREME COURT'S PRO-ABORTION DECISION APPEALED TO INTER-AMERICAN COURT

MEXICO CITY, February 19, 2002 (LSN.ca) - A group of congressmen from Mexico's ruling National Action Party (PAN) are taking last month's Supreme Court abortion decision to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (ICHR). Mexico's Supreme Court failed to vote in a strong-enough majority to support a challenge by Mexico's federal government to a Mexico City law allowing abortion in cases of fetal deformity and rape despite the country's pro-life constitution.

Legislator Miguel Angel Torrijos said the case was filed with the ICHR Friday in order to have it declare the decision a violation of human rights - the rights of the handicapped. EFE reports that Torrijos said he went to the ICHR, an autonomous agency of the Organization of American States (OAS), because the Supreme Court violated the Constitution and has "practically legalized abortion in this country."

ABORTIONISTS CLAMOURING FOR MANDATED ABORTION REFERRALS IN NEW BRUNSWICK

Bishop Comes to Defense of Pro-Life Doctors

ST JOHN, February 19, 2002 (LSN.ca) - Pro-abortionists in New Brunswick are taking aim at the Saint John medical community, accusing them of denying women access to abortion and birth control. Peter Ryan of Campaign Life Coalition New Brunswick told LifeSite that the Morgentaler abortuary is agitating for the numerous pro-life MD's in the province, to be forced to act against their consciences and refer patients for abortions or abortifacients such as the morning-after pill.

The New Brunswick College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSNB) in its latest bulletin, posted on its Web site, is seeking input from members on whether doctors should be mandated to refer patients to other doctors. Responding to the reports, J. Edward Troy, Bishop Emeritus of Saint John wrote in defense of the doctors. In an article published in the Telegraph Journal Bishop Troy points out that the morning after pill, "is not really a contraceptive but rather an abortifacient." He notes that pro-life doctors, "rightly consider that abortion is the taking of a human life at an early stage in its development."

Bishop Troy criticized the arguments of the director of an abortion clinic who attempted to argue that doctors should be forced to refer women for abortions on moral grounds. "Now this judgment comes from someone who is managing a business devoted to the destruction of babies in the womb! Talk about the moral high ground!," wrote the Bishop. He points out the irony that the same folks who are whining about the pushing of morality are ready and willing to impose their own morality. Bishop Troy concludes, "I salute physicians - no doubt the vast majority of practitioners - who refuse to ignore conscience and moral principle in the exercise of their calling."

CANADIAN HOSPITAL SUED AFTER FROZEN EMBRYOS LOST

SHARE: E-mail E-MAIL  Print PRINT

OTTAWA, February 19, 2002 (LSN.ca) - The Ottawa Hospital is facing a lawsuit over the loss of frozen embryos created through in vitro fertilization at the hospital's Fertility Clinic. The Ottawa Citizen reports that Laura Palmer and her husband, Ronald Matyas, say the hospital negligently allowed three of their frozen embryos to be destroyed in February 2000. The embryos were left over from a successful implantation of embryos which resulted in the birth of a baby girl.

Sue Grant, the hospital's patient-relations co-ordinator told the Citizen that patients at the Fertility Clinic are given the choice of keeping the leftover embryos cryopreserved at -196C in a freezing unit, or allowing the hospital to destroy the extras "in a manner consistent with ethical professional standards." The preservation of the frozen embryos costs $200 a year and the hospital sends a registered letter every year asking the parents if they wish to continue to pay for their embryonic children's preservation.

While it would not comment on the case specifically, the Fertility Clinic estimates 50 per cent of the embryos do not survive the freezing and thawing process, and when implanted, have only a 15-per-cent chance of resulting in a surviving till birth.

FREEDOM OF INFO DOCS REVEAL DEATHS AND HOSPITALIZATIONS DUE TO RU-486

SHARE: E-mail E-MAIL  Print PRINT

WASHINGTON, February 19, 2002 (LSN.ca) - Food and Drug Administration data obtained by Cybercast News Service (CNSNews.com) through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) has revealed deaths and hospitalizations resulting from RU-486. While the documentation on adverse side effects using RU-486 show only 33 individual reports during a four year period between November 1997 and November 2001, five cases involved death.

The results are from patients taking one or both of the two-drugs which make up RU-486 thus they include patients taking the drugs for reasons other than abortion. Four men were among the 33 cases. Of the five deaths reported listing RU-486 or one of its components as the primary suspected cause of death, three were men. Cybercast reports that other adverse effects for which doctors listed RU-486 as the primary suspect included nausea, dizziness, excessive bleeding, life-threatening blood clots and infection, and respiratory distress. Beyond the two women who died, 22 women in the report required hospitalization or "intervention to prevent permanent impairment," and five experienced "life threatening" or "other" medical outcomes.

It is acknowledged by both sides of the abortion debate that the FDA cases are underreported. While drug manufacturers are required to report such results to the FDA, doctors are not required to report their findings to the drug manufacturers. John Diggs, a pro-life Massachusetts doctor and advisor to the Family Research Council said, "Any drug like this that's causing those number of deaths under any other circumstances would be withdrawn or at least studied. But this one was pushed through under fast track, meaning that it bypassed all the usual studies and the time and the peer review to make sure that a drug is safe."
