HOMOSEXUAL-PORN PRIESTS ATTACK POPE, RATZINGER
DALLAS, Texas, June 13, 2002 (LSN.ca) - Two Dallas-area priests who joined a homosexual pornographic website with naked pictures and discussion of sexual encounters with men and boys, endorsed attacks on Pope John Paul II and Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, head of the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
One of the priests, Fr. Cliff Garner, 36, described his passion for a young Latin American youth minister, and praised a liberal dissident homosexual South African auxiliary bishop, Reginald Cawcutt, for his attacks on Vatican authorities: "You are doing God's work," Garner claimed, "and because of that - you and the rest of us will be beaten and crucified - but we will rise!!!! Peace be with you!!" Father Garner's email was dated April 14, 2000 and released to the Washington Times by an orthodox Catholic who joined the website to keep tabs on the destructive dialogue. In a November 1999 message from Cape Town about "Ratzinger and other minor problems," Bishop Cawcutt wrote: "Hi guys, kill him? pray for him?" He earlier said of the pope's June 1999 visit to Poland: "Talking about the Vatican - JP is in Poland at the mo - mebbe he will die there? I shall listen to the news broadcasts in hope!"
Fr. Garner and fellow chat-group member Fr. Art Mallinson of Lancaster, Texas were allowed to continue at their parishes even though Bishop Joseph A. Galante and the diocese's chancellor, Mary Edlund, were told of their activities more than three years ago, according to documents obtained by the Times.
Ironically, Bishop Galante is now being offered to the media as a spokesman for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops meeting in Dallas starting today. Galante, who refuses to crack down on the chat group -- accusing its exposer of "mortal sin" for invading the porn-group's privacy -- is even a canon lawyer and member of the bishops' Ad Hoc Committee on Sexual Abuse.
