CANADA COLLABORATES WITH UNFPA TO SCARE MALAWI INTO POPULATION CONTROL
Famine and Poverty Exploited to Advance De-Population Agenda
MALAWI, November 4, 2002 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Malawi, a country targeted by population control advocates such as Ted Turner for its refusal to abandon legal protection of unborn children, is now being hit with scare tactics by Canada and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). A "reproductive health" project targeting Malawi is currently underway at a time when the country is most vulnerable due to famine.
A joint project of UNFPA and the Canadian Public Health Association (funded by the Canadian International Development Agency) is providing and distributing abortifacient contraceptives and training "family planning" counselors. A release on the project boasts of its support for the pro-population control scare tactics of "grassroots-level activities of the community-based contraceptive distributors and village health committees."
The release describes a public meeting organized by the village health committee, where "young people perform songs and dramas with messages about public health issue." The skit described is a blatant population control scare tactic:
"In one skit, a ragged husband tells his wife he is hungry. 'I've always asked you to use family planning," she says. "Now we have too many children to feed." The man hits the wife and tries to take all the family's food for himself. Another couple, better dressed, has practised family planning and has enough food for their two children. Other performances link social problems like infidelity and drug use to HIV/AIDS and the famine."
Malawi has been under sustained attack from population control advocates this year. In June LifeSite reported that religious leaders in the country were outraged by USAID sponsored pro-condom billboards featuring a near-naked woman.
