NATIONAL ID CARD PROPOSED IN CANADA

Will Give Autocratic Liberals More Opportunity to Control all Canadians

OTTAWA, November 14, 2002 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Federal Immigration Minister Denis Coderre yesterday called for a national debate on mandatory citizenship cards for all Canadians. CBC reports that Coderre said the card would be based on the Maple Leaf card now carried by all landed immigrants and which contains biometric information such as fingerprints.

Various commentators from organizations representing civil rights have commented that mandatory ID cards are an undue invasion of privacy and restriction of freedom. Considering the Chretien government's poor record on ethics, autocratic style, strong support for world government and general untrustworthiness, pundits have warned Canadians to be very wary of this latest Liberal government initiative which would give them more control over every citizen.
