RAVENNA, Ohio, November 26, 2002 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Kathleen Klamut, a
school psychologist who is a practising Christian, won a battle over her teacher's union dues based on her religious objection to the union's support for abortion.

Klamut complained to the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission that the Ohio Education Association was refusing to allow her to defer part of her union dues to the American Cancer Agency instead of pro-abortion lobbies. "They called me obstinate, they questioned my religious sincerity, they were most ungracious," she said.

Klamut's 18-month battle ended in victory last week when the OEA announced it was granting her request to have part of her compulsory union dues re-directed to the American Cancer Society. She credits her "resolve and tenacity," and the legal help of the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, (NRTWF) with prevailing over the union.
