WASHINGTON, October 3, 2002 (LSN.ca) - Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has allowed Louisiana to go ahead with its plan to issue "Choose Life" licence plates. On Tuesday Scalia denied an emergency request to have the 1999 law allowing the plate overturned. (Henderson et al vs. Secs. Stalder and Kennedy)

Although the request was denied without comment it follows similar higher court rulings. The same pro-abortion group which lost the fight against the pro-life plates in Louisiana also attempted to stop the plates in New Orleans. After an initial injunction against the plates by a federal judge, a federal appeals court panel ordered the judge to dismiss the suit.
