PHONY 'CATHOLIC' PRO-ABORTION GROUPS SUPPORT UNICEF HALLOWEEN DRIVE
Two Authentic Toronto Catholic Groups Respond
TORONTO, October 30, 2002 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Two anti-Catholic, pro-abortion groups have issued a press release in support of fundraising for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The "Catholic Network for Women's Equality" (CNWE) and "Catholics for a Free Choice-Canada" (CFFC) sent out a release yesterday objecting to some Catholic schools in Toronto which have chosen to offer alternative donation boxes for children to carry at Halloween promoting Catholic charities and a crisis pregnancy center.
Two authentic Catholic organizations have responded to the CNWE CFFC press release.
Hilary White, spokesperson for the newly formed Campaign Life Catholic told LifeSite "What gives UNICEF exclusive rights to asking for funds door to door at Hallowe'en? The fact that the promoters of abortion, 'Catholics' for a Free Choice and their friends at the abortion mills are so keen to see only UNICEF boxes around the kids' necks at the front door should be telling us all something about the real activities of UNICEF. CFFC is all about abortion, the killing of the 'unfit', the 'unwanted', the smallest and weakest of our society. Every year UNICEF claims that it does not support abortion, though the evidence is plain in front of our eyes. So why are they getting the big plug from the pro-abortion outfit?"
The Catholic Civil Rights League (CCRL) slammed Sister Veronica Dunne of CNWE and Kathleen Howes of CFFC for falsely referring to themselves as "Catholic" organizations. "Two misguided individuals, cloaking their opinions under the monikers 'Catholics for a Free Choice' (CFFC), and 'Catholic Network for Women's Equality' (CNWE), have issued a press release which gives the false impression that their opinions somehow represent Catholics," said CCRL President Dr. Thomas Langan. "The individuals behind these attacks, however, wish to deceive Canadians into believing that one can simultaneously be a faithful Catholic and work to promote the moral legitimacy of abortion."
