COURT HALTS U.S. FORCED ABORTION

JACKSON, Miss., April 2, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A pregnant teenager who is being pressured by her parents to have an abortion was able to obtain a temporary restraining order to block her parents' wishes -- because she wants to have the child. A preliminary hearing will be held next week in federal court.
Michael DePrimo, a lawyer with the American Family Association's Center for Law and Policy, says the 16 year-old was scheduled to have an abortion this week. But she managed to reach DePrimo's pro-life legal group to intervene. "A mother's desire to protect her baby is among the strongest in life," DePrimo observed.
Even pro-abortionists support the girl's choice. Betty Thompson at the local abortion clinic, which calls itself the "Women's Health Organization," said: "If a woman, even a teenager, says she does not want to have an abortion, no parent can make her have an abortion. She is dismissed if she says she does not want one."
