Judge Moore Refuses to Remove Ten Commandments Monument Despite Court Order
WASHINGTON, August 15, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore is defying two court orders demanding he remove a Ten Commandments monument from the Alabama Judicial Building. Justice Moore, joined Sandy Rios, president of Concerned Women for America on her daily show, Concerned Women Today, to discuss his courageous stand for religious freedom and refusal to bow to judicial tyranny. "It is the battle of the century as the ACLU and others face-off against this one man, defending religious freedom on behalf of all of us," said Rios.
A U.S. District Court Judge Myron Thompson ruled against Chief Justice Moore in November and the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals also ruled last month, saying displays on government property cannot promote a religion. "It's pure hypocrisy and it's not the law. They're completely ignoring the words in the statute," Moore told Rios. "And saying, 'Because I don't like it, you'll move it.' That's tyranny -when the courts force their will upon you."
"Law must be based on a fixed standard," said Moore. "Man is not a fixed standard. The acknowledgement of God is the foundation of our laws."
"The Constitutional question is whether the federal government can force a state to do something it not inclined to do," Rios added. Rios is encouraging listeners and CWA members across the country to join Justice Moore and thousands of Christians on Saturday, August 16 at 10 AM, Central at a rally on the steps of the Alabama Supreme Court building. Details are posted on the CWA Web site: http://www.cwfa.org
