DOCTORS REPORT INCURABLE SKIN INFECTIONS AMONG HOMOSEXUALS

SAN FRANCISCO, February 5, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Doctors treating San
Francisco homosexuals are reporting an increase in a drug-resistant bacterial skin infection, uniquely among their gay patients.
The reports add to evidence from Los Angeles that the bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus, or "staph" for short, strikes apparently healthy, non-HIV positive homosexuals with no broken skin, through skin contact with an infected person or recently touched surface. So far, the disease is non-fatal but is costly and complicated to treat.
San Francisco Department of Public Health Director Dr. Mitch Katz told the San Francisco Chronicle that the skin disease is not a new AIDS epidemic.
