85 PRO BASEBALL LEADERS BACK PRO-LIFE EDUCATIONAL VENTURE
Impressive list includes Sparky Anderson, Jim Bunning, Joe Carter, Bowie Kuhn
WASHINGTON, February 24, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - More than 85 former and current baseball players, managers, coaches, and executives have joined the growing list of endorsers to a pro-life educational venture by American Life League. Hall of Famers Sparky Anderson, Jim Bunning, Gary Carter, Ernie Harwell, Tommy Lasorda, and Robin Yount are among the sponsors of the "Campus for Life" project which aims to be a one-stop shopping educational center for pro-life individuals and organizations throughout America.
The promotional and fundraising effort for the Campus for Life project called Battin' 1000 includes the support of former Toronto Blue Jays Joe Carter and Mike Eichorn. It seeks to seeks to promote a culture of life through the endorsements and engagement of major league personalities. It also aims to raise one million dollars for Campus for Life by recruiting 1,000 donors to each pledge $1,000.
Managers Lou Piniella (Tampa) and Jim Boone (Cincinnati), former Commissioner Bowie Kuhn, Jerry Colangelo, Chairman and CEO Arizona Diamondbacks and Tom Monaghan, former owner Detroit Tigers are also supporting the educational center. Located 40 minutes south of Washington D.C., ALL's Campus for Life will offer a wide array of training through on-line teaching, workshops, resources, and transferable for-credit courses.
