SATTAHIP, Thailand, January 7, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Up to 20,000 boy and girl scouts aged 14 to 18 attending the international scouting jamboree in Thailand are to be given free condoms on request. Local health officials quipped that they are "determined" that youths attending the event "would live up to their motto and 'Be prepared.'"

For reasons hard to fathom, the location chosen by the scouts -- a movement originally founded to promote self-sacrifice and manly virtue including chastity -- is Sattahip, 80 km from Bangkok and "a short drive from the seaside town of Pattaya, which is notorious for its thousands of go-go bars, massage parlours and brothels," the BBC reports.
