KANSAS CITY, January 10, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - American Life League president Judie Brown has written to Archbishop James Patrick Keleher, archbishop of the archdiocese of Kansas City, asking him to cancel an interfaith service for Kansas Governor-elect Kathleen Sebelius, who is an openly pro-abortion politician who claims to be Catholic.

Brown is urging Catholics, in particular, to petition Keleher to stop the service. Brown's letter says, in part, "Your Excellency, the Church teaches that the act of abortion is intrinsically evil. Governor-elect Kathleen Sebelius favors and promotes the intrinsically evil act of abortion. As an Archbishop, we believe that banning this pro-abortion politician from sacred ground is not only your obligation as a shepherd, but is likewise an incredible opportunity for you to witness to the Catholic Church's 2000+ years tradition of defending and preserving all innocent human beings from conception to natural death."
