WASHINGTON, January 22, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In A full page ad today, American Life League identifies with name and photo twelve abortion supporting Senators who claim to be Catholic. The wanted-poster style ad entitled "The Deadly Dozen" says that the Senators are "Wanted for fraudulently claiming Catholic Faith".

"These 12 United States senators claim to be Catholics, but their public support for the deadly practice of legalized abortion is scandalous in the eyes of the Church," says the ad. "Canon Law 915 makes it clear that professing such heretical beliefs makes them unworthy to receive Holy Communion," it continues. It quotes Cannon Law 915: "Those who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to Communion."

In addition to the Senator's name and photo, the ad lists the Senator's bishop and the bishop's contact information, giving faithful Catholics the opportunity to ask their bishops to correct their errant political leaders. "We call on all bishops and priests to respectfully refuse Holy Communion to these and all public figures whose unrepentant support for the killing of babies in the womb defiles the Mass and the Body of Christ," reads the ad.

The Senators listed as "Openly pro-abortion 'Catholic'" include:
Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA), Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA), Sen. John Kerry (D-MA), Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-CT), Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI), Sen. Tom Daschle (D-SD), Sen. Joseph Biden (D-DE)
