HONOLULU, June 24, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle vetoed an offensive piece of legislation Friday which would have required all hospitals, including Catholic-run hospitals, to provide abortifacient morning-after-pills to rape victims. Senate Bill 658, would have penalized hospitals $5,000 for each instance in which a victim was denied information, along with suspension or revocation of a license after two violations.

The bill passed the Senate in April by an 18-6 vote.
