SEATTLE, March 11, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Washington state has been plunged into the homosexualist war against marriage, with legislation to recognize same-sex unions without using the word marriage. Five states are now debating laws to either expand or equalize the privileges of homosexual relationships.

Part of the strategy is to get pro-homosexual lawyers into a position to challenge the federal Defense of Marriage Act in the courts. The law, passed by Republicans in Congress in 1996, protects marriage as an institution consisting of one man and one woman, and upholds the democratic right of individual states to refuse to recognize a homosexual union recognized in another state.

Vermont has recognized gay civil unions, and California, Hawaii, Connecticut, and the District of Columbia all recognize same-sex partnerships to varying degrees. New Jersey and Massachusetts are also the scene of homosexual legal challenges to neutralize marriage.
