WELLINGTON, March 25, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A New Zealand Member of
Parliament is joined by a Roman Catholic ethicist and the country's Roman Catholic bishops, among others, in denouncing the country's potential moves toward legalization of assisted suicide.

Pro-euthanasia M.P. Peter Brown's "Death with Dignity" private member's bill, was selected earlier this month for debate.

In response, pro-life Kaikoura M.P. Dr. Lynda Scott has been receiving assistance from Fr. Michael McCabe, director of the Nathaniel Centre (a Catholic bioethics centre) and the New Zealand Catholic Bishops Conference, which has said that life is the most basic gift of a loving God -- a gift over which mankind has stewardship but not absolute dominion.
