MORE AND MORE COUNTRIES DECLARE 'DAY OF THE UNBORN'

BUENOS AIRES, March 26, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The idea of celebrating a "Day of the Unborn" is gaining some ground around the world, as pro-lifers paid tribute to human life and dignity on the Feast of the Annunciation yesterday.
El Salvador was the first to take the plunge in in 1993, with the national Legislative Assembly declaring the Day of the Right to Be Born. Five years later, then Argentine President Carlos Menem also declared March 25 the Day of the Unborn. Chile, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Peru have followed suit, and a bill awaits approval in Brazil. In recognizing the day, the Dominican Republic declared that it is "appropriate and necessary to assign a day to the unborn child, for the purpose of encouraging reflection on the important role of a pregnant woman in the destiny of humanity, and the value of the human life she carries in her womb."
