Teens at New York School All-Gay High School Arrested for Robbery and Prostitution
NEW YORK, November 10, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Harvey Milk School, the first publicly funded "lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth" (LGBTQ) public school in the United States, is in the news again after New York police arrested four students for robbery. The New York Post reports that the four teens and another teen who attended an after-school program at the school were male 'transvestites' who boasted for making up to $600 a night by prostitution and stealing money from their 'johns'.
The paper reports that the students impersonated police officers letting the johns go in exchange for bribes. Reports indicate that one of the incidents involved forcing a man against a wall at gunpoint.
Last summer, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced that the City authorized 3.2 million dollars to establish the school, a move roundly criticized by pro-family advocates. Since then, the school was also in the news for an incident where students attacked a man who got out of his car wielding a screw driver after students pelted his car with bottles. The students were motivated to throw the bottles at the car after the man suggested that the students' behavior reflected poorly on other black young people.
