Outgoing Prime Minister Chretien Finds His Own Betrayal of Catholic Faith Unbelievable
OTTAWA, November 14, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) In an interview Monday, outgoing Prime Minister Jean Chretien spoke of his own surprise that he had pressed so hard for the homosexual 'marriage' legislation, especially given his Catholic faith. "If you told me I would do that, I would not have believed you," he said of his decision on homosexual 'marriage'. "I'm a practicing Roman Catholic."
At the Liberal Party’s Thursday night grand farewell for Chretien, singer Paul Anka changed the words of his famous song, "My Way" and in one verse sang, "The gays all sing your praise, for days and days, even though you wouldn't wed one."
The New York Times reports that Chretien winced when a reporter reminded him that Calgary bishop Fred Henry had warned that due to the Prime Minister's support for homosexual marriage: "He's putting at risk his eternal salvation. I pray for the Prime Minister because I think his eternal salvation is in jeopardy. He is making a morally grave error and he's not being accountable to God." Chretien responded, to the reporter, "God and I will decide that. We'll discuss and he will decide."
