Canadian Pro-Life Leaders React to Stem Cell Bill Passage
Circulate List of How MPs Voted on "A Black Day for Canada"
OTTAWA, October 29, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - At 6:40 p.m. on October 28th Canada's Parliament voted 149 to 109 to allow human beings in the embryonic stage to be killed in scientific experiments with the passage of Bill C-13. Campaign Life Coalition, the political arm of Canada's pro-life movement commented in a release, "Future generations will hold accountable MPs who voted in favour of this legislation." LifeSite has compiled the list of how House Members voted on the legislation and has made it available at the link below.
"It's been a long battle so far and it's not over yet," said Jim Hughes National President of Campaign Life Coalition. "I am proud of the MPs who fought so hard to point out the truth of this legislation that all cloning will not be banned and that human embryos will be fodder for experiments. On the other hand, I am disgusted by the MPs who voted for this atrocity", he continued.
"The proof that adult stem cell research truly works while stem cells taken from embryos do not, has been given to all the MPs", said Mary Ellen Douglas, National Organizer for CLC. We will continue to work to educate the Senators so that the chamber of somber second thought will defeat it."
