Jesus is Dead Says the CBC on Good Friday
Also: CBC lies to implicate Bush in league with creation theorist agenda
TORONTO, April 13, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's Newsworld led off on a story about the growing popularity of Jesus Christ by saying, "even though he has been dead for 2000 years.…"
In related news, CBC Radio's "The Current" aired a segment, also on Good Friday, on U.S. President George W. Bush's affiliation with Answers in Genesis. AiG is a group that promotes creation v. evolution as the origin for life on earth; its web-site describes itself as "a Christian apologetics ministry that equips the church to uphold the authority of the Bible from the very first verse."
AiG denies any affiliation with the Bush campaign. An article that appeared on-line, "Tampering with the Truth?" claimed that AiG was "depicted as an important ally with the political forces that wish to advance the causes of U.S. President George W. Bush."
A CBC reporter spent several hours with AiG officials earlier this year. "The reporter tried hard to link AiG with the faith-based goals and initiatives of President Bush," the article states, "and continually asked ministry leaders about their views of the President, which we did not offer other than in a general sense."
"During the in-studio introduction to [AiG spokesman] Ken Ham's interview, the origins controversy was misframed as a science (i.e. evolution) v religion (i.e. creation) issue," the article states.
The author concludes by saying, "And pray for those few Bible-upholding Christian TV and radio outlets that exist throughout Canada, as they are monitored by the Canadian government for possible 'hate speech' regarding hot issues like 'gay' marriage and homosexual behavior. The media in Canada is dominated by a CBC radio/television giant that frequently ridicules the Christian faith and the authority of the Bible, and wants to
'warn' Canada - with radio programs like this one - not to become like the U.S. in, as they see it, mixing religion with politics."
