Swiss MP Calls on European Countries to Decriminalize Euthanasia

STRASBOURG, April 27, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Swiss Parliamentarian Dick Marty called on European countries to study and eventually decriminalize euthanasia. In a report presented today to the Council of Europe, Marty claimed that although only two European countries, the Netherlands and Belgium, officially permit euthanasia, studies have shown that the practice is rampant in several other European countries with authorities purposely ignoring the situation.

Similar to tactics used to have abortion decriminalized, Marty said that such rampant euthanasia must be controlled by decriminalizing it and having it regulated. He suggests falsely that the legalization of the practice in the Netherlands and Belgium "introduced mechanisms that made euthanasia more difficult, since it became more transparent and subject to tighter control."

In fact, statistics and reports from experts within those countries have detailed an ever increasing resort to euthanasia, similar to the explosion of abortion after its legalization throughout the world.
