Dangerous Homosexual Hate-Crime Bill Reintroduced into Canadian Senate
OTTAWA, February 3, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Homosexual activist MP Svend Robinson has reintroduced his homosexual hate crimes bill C-250. Since it has already passed in the House of Commons it is currently at Second Reading in the Senate.
The bill has been warned against by all pro-life and pro-family groups as well as by religious leaders from the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, as well as Jewish and Islamic leaders.
In a release today, REAL Women of Canada stated "Parliament will be sitting for approximately 6 weeks before the election is expected to be called in April. If Bill C-250 has not become law by then, it will die with the closing of the 37th Parliament."
Opponents of the bill are urging Canadians to contact Members of the Senate and insist that the bill be defeated.

Homosexual Activists Move to Force Anti-Family Policy via United Nations
GENEVA, February 3, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) is once again promoting a motion at the United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) to ban discrimination based on "sexual orientation." The motion will be presented at the 60th session of the UNHRC which runs March 15-April 25 in Geneva Switzerland. Experts have suggested the proposal has serious ramifications for religions.
The motion, which was sponsored by Brazil and co-sponsored by Canada, was postponed last year by a narrow vote at the UNHRC.
Jane Adolphe, an international law expert and an assistant professor of law at Ave Maria Law School, raised concerns about the same motion last year when it was being debated. "This initiative opens the door for further attacks on the (Catholic) Church," she said. "With respect to the Commission, individuals could presumably use this discrimination language to bring complaints against the Church with regard to hiring, employment, even the doctrines of the Church, itself."
In a release, homosexual activist groups throughout the world have been encouraged by the IGLHRC to lobby their governments in support of the resolution. The group is attempting to lobby all representatives from the 53 nations that will decide the matter in Geneva during the UNHRC session, targeting especially the countries of "South Africa, India, Costa Rica and the United States" where they face the most resistance.
The group provides a list of UNHCR country delegates and their contacts to lobby:

Weekly Standard Exposé on Fanatical Focus on Abortion by UNICEF, UNFPA, CPR
LONDON, February 3, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - An article by Joseph Bottum, appearing yesterday in Britain's Weekly Standard begs the question: "What price are the international activists who cluster around the United Nations willing to pay to achieve the ability of any woman--at any place, for any reason--to have an abortion?"
In the exposé, Bottum cites figures from a British Lancet article on the increasing childhood mortality rates in the third world. He writes "Of the world's 10 million children who died last year of preventable diseases and starvation, two-thirds could have been saved by effective international intervention through UNICEF, according to a recent essay in the British medical journal the Lancet." The authors of the Lancet letter go on, writing "We, a group of concerned scientists and public health managers, call on . . . UNICEF . . . to act on behalf of children." The Lancet scientists plead that "Child survival must be put back on the agenda."
Bottum also exposes the clandestine motives of various abortion-promoting interest groups such as the Center for Reproductive Rights, a lawyers' nongovernmental organization (NGO) that specializes in suing local and national governments that fail to allow unfettered access to abortion. The secret, internal memos of the CRR were mailed anonymously late last year to Austin Ruse, who heads the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (C-FAM). Rep. Chris Smith of New Jersey reprinted them in the Congressional Record on December 8. One memo admits that "Our goal is to see governments worldwide guarantee women's reproductive rights out of recognition that they are bound to do so."
In another telling statement from one such abortion-promoting group, Bottum writes that "various women's groups this summer, for instance, denounced the government of Peru--because the Peruvian congress apologized for the more than 200,000 poor women coerced into sterilizations under the 1990s 'compulsory family planning program' of President Alberto Fujimori. 'We do not condone forced sterilizations,' one activist explained, 'but no one can deny that Fujimori's program was excellent in terms of access and information.' The Center for Reproductive Law and Policy issued a press release declaring the 'apology is part of a right-wing strategy to limit family planning options in Peru.'"

Utah House Votes to Persuade United States to Back Out of UN
SALT LAKE CITY, February 3, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Utah House of Representatives voted yesterday in favour of persuading the United States Congress to pull America out of the UN. The Utah House contends that the UN is a threat to American sovereignty. The vote went 42-33 in favour of the resolution.
The resolution espouses "freeing the nation from a large financial burden and retaining the nation's sovereignty to decide what is best for the nation and determine what steps it considers appropriate as the leader of the free world in full control of its armed forces and destiny."
Republican Don Bush has sought support for the resolution, which he brought to the House years ago. The resolution was stalled last year by the U.S. request for support from the UN for the war against Iraq.

HPV leading STI: Latest CDC Findings Report that Condoms Not Protective
Bush to Increase Funding for Abstinence Message
WASHINGTON, February 3, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In the wake of a newly-released Centre for Disease Control (CDC) report on human papilloma virus (HPV), which revealed that condoms are not reliable in preventing the spread of this infection, US President George W. Bush announced a doubling of funding for the abstinence message.
The CDC report revealed that HPV is the most common sexually-transmitted infection (STI) in America; 20,000,000 Americans currently have the infection, and new infections occur at a staggering rate of 5.5 million infections per year. The report also revealed that by age 50, at least 80 percent of women will have acquired genital HPV infection. HPV is responsible for 12,000 cases of invasive cervical cancer and 4000 deaths per year.
"HPV infection can occur in both male and female genital areas that are covered or protected by a latex condom," the CDC findings warned. "The available scientific evidence is not sufficient to recommend condoms as a primary prevention strategy," the report continued. The report also revealed that "The surest way to avoid transmission of sexually transmitted diseases, including HPV, is to refrain from genital contact."
In his State of the Union address Monday, President Bush announced a doubling of budget allocation -- from $135 million to $270 million -- on programs which encourage teens to abstain from sex.

National Broadcaster to Air Live Gay Marriage on February 15 - Day to Honour Traditional Marriage
OTTAWA, February 3, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - On the very day on which Christian groups across Canada have agreed to promote traditional marriage, the country's national broadcaster, the CBC, on its CBC News Sunday program, will do a one hour live broadcast of the homosexual 'marriage' of Douglass Drozdow-St. Christian (50) and Stephen Drozdow-St. Christian (33).
The move is yet another slap in the face to Christian groups by the national broadcaster which is notorious for its pro-abortion and pro-homosexual bias. Numerous official complaints by the Catholic Civil Rights League to the CBC have resulted in little more than trite apologies where undeniable bias could be proven.
Unlike private broadcasters, the publicly funded CBC is mandated by broadcasting laws and orders to be unbiased.
The week of February 8-15 and February 15 specifically has been designated by a partnership between the Ontario Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, among other groups, to proclaim the sanctity of marriage - as God designed it - between one man and one woman.

Nuns Meet with Unparalleled Success in Saving Babies through Sidewalk Counselling
New Jersey sisters have thus far saved the lives of some 215 babies
NEWARK, NJ, February 3, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A new order of women religious, have found awesome success with their work of sidewalk counselling to save babies and their mothers from abortion. Based near Newark New Jersey, the Franciscan Daughters of Mary, a Private Association of the Faithful (a community in formation), are headed up by Mother Teresa Marie.
LifeSiteNews.com had an opportunity to sit down with Mother Teresa at the recent March for Life in Washington, DC. Twice a week, as they have for the past year and a half, the Sisters go to an abortion mill which commits about two thirds of the late term abortions in the state. Speaking to sidewalk counsellors who regularly attempted to save babies from abortion outside the clinic prior to the nuns' venture, Mother Teresa learned there were some 3 to 5 children saved from abortion each year. However, the nuns have thus far saved the lives of some 215 babies.
There are only five sisters so far and another eight women discerning entering the order. The sisters run what is called The Rose Garden Home where, in addition to running a Crisis Pregnancy Centre, they distribute food to the hungry whenever the need arises, distribute turkeys and groceries for Thanksgiving and Christmas, as well as Christmas gifts and Easter baskets and referrals for shelter and jobs.
Most inspiring though, is the courage of the sisters. Mother Teresa told LifeSiteNews.com "We want to go where the pro-life fight is the hardest because it is there that the unborn have no voice." Perhaps one day the Franciscan Daughters of Mary will have a house in Canada as well.

Toronto Catholic Priest Files Supreme Court Affidavit Supporting Same-Sex Marriage
TORONTO, February 3, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A highly credentialed Toronto Catholic priest filed an affidavit with the Supreme Court of Canada in support of homosexual marriage. Fr. Tim Ryan, in the affidavit of August last year, called himself "a Roman Catholic priest" and "an active member in good standing of the Scarboro Foreign Mission Society". He wrote, "As someone with many decades of experience in ministry to the gay and lesbian community, I welcomed the decisions of the (courts which ruled on the issue) reformulating the common law definition of marriage as 'the voluntary union for life of two persons with the exclusion of all others.'"
The Archdiocese of Toronto told LifeSiteNews.com yesterday that they had heard of the incident. However, Suzanne Scorsone, the director of Communications said today that the Archdiocese could never comment on individuals. However, the Vicar General of the Scarboro Foreign Mission Society told LifeSiteNews.com he had only heard of the affidavit for the first time yesterday.
Vicar General Fr. Mike Traher distanced the order from Fr. Ryan's comments. Fr. Traher told LifeSiteNews.com "Fr. Tim Ryan is a retired priest since 2002 and is not acting with the knowledge or approval of the society. Scarboro Missions does not in any way endorse any other position than the official teaching of the Catholic Church regarding the definition of marriage."
Fr. Ryan who completed a Doctorate in Theology at St. Michael's College, University of Toronto, in 1983, concluded his affidavit swearing, "I am well aware of the Vatican's recent pronouncement against the legal recognition of same-sex marriage and the fact that the Catholic Bishops are seeking to pursue this appeal. As with various issues touching on matters of sex and sexuality many Canadian Catholics do not share the views of the hierarchy, including myself."

U.S. National Right to Life Announces Endorsement of George W. Bush for President
WASHINGTON, February 3, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Today, National Right to Life PAC announced its endorsement of George W. Bush for President of the United States. "President Bush has shown himself to be a great pro-life president," stated Carol Tobias, political director of the National Right to Life Committee. "He has backed with actions his statement that unborn children should be 'welcomed in life and protected in law.'"
Since taking office, President Bush has, among other things, reinstated the Mexico City Policy, blocked federal funding of research that kills human embryos, and signed both the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act and the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act. At the signing of the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, President Bush said, "The Born-Alive Infants Protection Act is a step toward the day when every child is welcomed in life and protected in law. It is a step toward the day when the promises of the Declaration of Independence will apply to everyone, not just those with the voice and power to defend their rights."
Of the Democrats seeking the nomination, all are pro-abortion. A review of their records and statements shows that there is practically no difference in their very extreme positions on abortion.
Senators Kerry, Edwards, and Lieberman have solid pro-abortion voting records. All three voted against the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act. In his speech formally launching his presidential campaign, Kerry emphatically stated, "As President, I will only appoint Supreme Court Justices who will uphold a woman's right to choose."
Howard Dean is opposed to any legal limits on abortion. He has said that he would veto any parental notification bill and that he will do everything he can to overturn the recently enacted Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act.
In a recent interview with The Union Leader, in Manchester, NH, Wesley Clark expressed his opposition to any limits on, "anything up to delivery," and even "anything up to the head coming out of the womb."
Catholic Sisters Expose Gruesome Organ Trafficking in Mozambique
MOZAMBIQUE, February 3, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Zenit.org reports that five missionary nuns working in Mozambique have revealed a gruesome network trafficking in human organs that involves kidnap and murder of child victims and the complicity of police. In a report revealed by the Catholic aid agency, Veritas, the nuns described "kidnappings and multiple killings of persons, many times children, victims of an organ trafficking network."
The nuns have received death threats for uncovering the network and report that they have already themselves escaped four attempts at ambush. The nuns were able to gather in the information because the operation was carried out from a property next to their own convent to which some of the child victims fled. The nuns observed the trade where victims are killed and their organs flown out of the country by night.
The report coincides with the disappearance of dozens of local children and youths. One young girl who escaped described being picked up while hitchhiking. The driver asked about her state of health and, on finding her in good health, started driving to the property of a "white couple" who appear to be running the network. The girl fled the vehicle and escaped.
The sisters investigated in the local neighbourhoods "and found a place in the city in which there was a corpse that had the eyes, heart and kidneys removed,"
In the sisters' account, the local authorities, to whom they initially reported, are corrupt and indifferent. "There is great corruption in Mozambique after so many years of war," the report said. "The police, the airport, the local government -- all are implicated."
The sisters were forced to go to another community to alert competent authorities. "The local authority is completely involved through bribes and, despite knowledge of many of these facts, no one has yet been arrested," the report said.
Pope Speaks on Italian Pro-Life Day
ROME, February 3, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In his Sunday Angelus address, February 1st, Pope John Paul II highlighted the work of Italian pro-life activists and called upon all ecclesial communities to support their efforts to fight against the many attacks against human life in the modern world.
"We must not be resigned to attacks on human life, above all, abortion!" the Pope said
February 1st was the 26th annual pro-life day in Italy where the Italian government has recently passed legislation limiting the in vitro fertilization industry.
The pope said that efforts must be expanded "so that the right of life of yet unborn children is affirmed not against the mothers, but together with the mothers," "The family nucleus, which ensues from marriage, is the fundamental cell of society," the Pope added. "Within it, as in a reassuring nest, life must always be promoted, defended and protected, and today's Pro-Life Day reminds all of this fundamental duty."
John Paul's address dovetailed with a message for pro-life day from the Italian bishops who identified personal egotism as one of the great modern threats to life and happiness.
Addressing the disastrous Italian fertility rate and warning against the coming demographic crash the bishops' stated, "Without children there is no future. If there are few children, in a society of adults and elderly, the future vanishes. To whom do we pass on what we are, what in turn our parents gave us?"
Italy's fertility rate is far below replacement, the rate of childbearing that will at least maintain current population levels. In 2002 the childbirth rate was 1.26 children per woman of childbearing years compared to the 2.2 necessary for population replacement.

The Real Homosexual Lobby
Electorally speaking, the homosexual lobby is a paper tiger. It is more myth than reality. The numbers of homosexuals have been inflated for years. It is a fringe vote… not only are the Democrats and homosexual activists promoting a degenerate, immoral and sinful lifestyle, they are also lying about how widespread that lifestyle is to perpetrate a political fraud on the American people.
