Ron Reagan Pushes Human Cloning (without Naming it) at Democrat Convention
Brother Michael Reagan Objects Publicly
BOSTON, July 28, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Ronald Reagan Jr. spoke at the Democratic convention last night promoting human cloning for research purposes, yet without calling it human cloning so as not to disgust the public with the reality of his proposals. The carefully crafted speech, described the process of human cloning technically thus keeping most unaware that human cloning was being described.
Reagan's explanation: "Now, imagine going to a doctor who, instead of prescribing drugs, takes a few skin cells from your arm. The nucleus of one of your cells is placed into a donor egg whose own nucleus has been removed. A bit of chemical or electrical stimulation will encourage your cell's nucleus to begin dividing . . ." At that point, the point at which life begins and a new human embryo is formed by cloning and thus begins to grow (cells begin dividing). Reagan failed to mention this crucial fact.
Moreover while he claimed to be non-partisan in his presentation, Ronald Jr. Reagan's older brother Michael Reagan has said that Ronald Jr. is a liberal and Ronald Jr. and his mother Nancy support destructive research on human embryos while he and his late father opposed it. In a syndicated column last month entitled 'I'm With My Dad on Stem Cell Research', Michael Reagan criticized the media for portraying the Reagan "family" as supportive of human cloning and embryonic stem cell research. "The truth is that two members of the family have been long time foes of this process of manufacturing human beings - my dad, Ronald Reagan during his lifetime, and me," he wrote.
