Catholic PM Martin Says No One Should Be Allowed to Prevent Homosexual "Marriage"
Totally contradicts Catholic teaching
ST. JOHN'S, June 7, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - While at an event in Newfoundland Friday, Prime Minister Paul Martin made his most strident statements in favour of homosexual 'marriage'. Putting the Liberal Party as much behind homosexual "marriage" as the NDP, Martin - once again touted by the media as a 'devout Catholic' - said, "there is no way that anybody should be allowed to discriminate or prevent same sex marriage."
At a CBC town hall event called the "Great Canadian Job Interview" Martin said on homosexual marriage: "Three of the highest courts in the land have said that discrimination on the grounds of sex, in terms of the definition of marriage, is against the Charter of Rights". "It is absolutely a question of human rights," he said.
So far, no Canadian Catholic bishop has taken the Prime Minister to task for the scandal of his increasingly strident public statements in recent weeks supporting abortion and homosexuality.
Both Conservative Leader Stephen Harper and Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe declined invitations to appear at the event.
