St. Louis Bishop Burke Regrets it Took Him so Long to Become Outspoken

PEWAUKEE, Ohio, October 22, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Speaking at the annual dinner for Trinity Academy in Pewaukee earlier this week, St. Louis Archbishop Raymond L. Burke expressed regret that is took him so long to take the bold stands in favour of life for which he has recently become renowned.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinal reports that Burke told the 200 people at the dinner, "People have asked me if I regret having taken the action that I did, and all of the publicity that has resulted, especially people who know that by nature I'm not very fond of controversy." He continued, "And my response to that is, my only regret is that it took me so long to figure out what I needed to do and to do it."
