Celebrated Ontario Homosexual "Marriage" Activist Judge Now says Leave Decision to Elected MPs

TORONTO, January 6, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Chief Justice of the Ontario Appeals Court, Roy McMurtry, now says it would "be preferable" to resolve the same-sex "marriage" issue for Canada "politically," according to a Canadian Press account.
It appears as though McMurtry is experiencing political fallout in Ontario for being the first activist Canadian judge to dictate that homosexuals must be granted the "right" to marry. McMurtry's almost mocking about-face appears have been engineered to improve his popularity with what the activist judge must believe is a very naive Canadian populace.
"It would be preferable if these issues were solved politically," McMurtry said. "I think the elected politicians have a vital role to play. But the decisions they make must be constitutionally supportable."
McMurtry, Canada's worst offender of the people's trust, claimed that ruling on Charter issues ". . . was not a role the judges sought," yet in June of 2003, that is exactly the role he and Justices Eileen Gillese and James MacPherson took, with the proclamation of same-sex "marriage" as a legal right.
"If there is anyone left in Canada who still believes that our judges are fair and impartial on the homosexual issue," REAL Women of Canada said after the June Ontario decision legalizing same-sex "marriage," they need only review the guest list of parties on June 26, 2003 connected with this summer's Gay Pride Week. McMurtry, along with other Justices, were a part of the festivities.
