Former Canadian Chief Executive and Paul Martin Sr. Friend Denounces PM's Support for Same-Sex Marriage

Ottawa, June 3, 2005, (LifeSiteNews.com) - L. Earle Wicklum, at the age of 30, the president of the largest pharmaceutical company in Canada, abruptly resigned when his company was taken over by a firm he considered unethical. After this he joined the Robert Simpson Company and rose to the position of president before retiring. With great reluctance and sorrow Mr. Wicklum deplores the path that Paul Martin Jr. is taking on same-sex marriage.

The now 93 year old long time Martin family friend, in an open letter to the Prime Minister, writes, “I wept when I read about the enthusiastic endorsement that you, Prime Minister Paul Martin Jr., gave to a bill going through parliament legitimizing same-sex ‘marriage’.

Wicklum notes that the “highly principled” father of the Prime Minister, who was himself a prominent Liberal Member of Parliament, “would never have tolerated such an aberration”.  He recalls that Martin Sr. refused to go along with Pierre Trudeau’s legalization of abortion and was banished to the Senate for his principled stand.

Wicklum asks, “Where did all the Martin family integrity go in just one generation?
