Dirty Tricks in Parliament Pave Way for Gay 'Marriage' Bill Passage Next Week
Liberals once again prove anyone can be bought with taxpayers' money - even the separatists
OTTAWA, June 24, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The last hurdle standing in the way of passage of the gay 'marriage' bill was swept away last night by political manipulations that make the Canadian Parliament an embarrassment to traditions of democratic process. The vote on the budget Bill C-48 was the final opportunity to bring down the Liberal government and thus defeat the gay 'marriage' legislation. Now, barring a miracle, Bill C-38 will pass next week.
Like a bunch of scheming school children, the Liberal Government conspired with the NDP and Bloc parties, noting the Conservatives were absent a few members in the House last evening, and secretly amassed their numbers in the Commons lobby for a snap vote to close debate on the budget bill and force a sudden final vote on it just before midnight yesterday. The Liberals had just finished orchestrated through a motion to extend parliamentary debate into next week in order to give further consideration to the budget amendment bill. However, it was apparently a ruse to lull Conservatives into setting strategy for next week while the Liberals conspired to catch them completely off guard once they verified how many Conservatives were missing from the House to ensure they could win the budget vote. That vote had originally been scheduled for Monday.
While the Bloc did not vote with the government, sources informed LifeSiteNews.com that, due to lobby pressure from Quebec which had been bribed by handsome handouts in the budget bill, the Bloc would no longer seriously oppose the budget bill and thus permit its passage. And that is exactly what the separatists did for the Liberals.
The underhanded move drew anger from normally reserved Conservative Leader Stephen Harper. "When push comes to shove the Liberals will make any deal with anybody," Harper said. "And it doesn't matter whether it's with the socialists or with the separatists or any bunch of crooks they can find."
With the budget bill passed, the main agenda on the government's plate for next week is the gay 'marriage' legislation. The Liberal-dominated Senate has already agreed to pass the measure during a summer session once it is passed by the House.
Conservative sources inform ed LifeSiteNews.com that the Party will still put forward a full roster of speakers against Bill C-38. Combined with pro-family Liberals speaking against the bill, the passage of the gay marriage legislation could be delayed another couple of weeks. However, given Liberal intolerance for debate presenting the need to defend marriage from radical redefinition, sources suggest this debate will also be cut short by the government and the gay 'marriage' legislation will be passed by the House early next week.
