LONDON, Ontario, March 18, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Notorious Canadian abortion activist Henry Morgentaler is slated to receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Western Ontario on Thursday, June 16 at 10 a.m.

Pro-life leader Henry Lamb was infuriated that the university would confer its highest honour on the abortionist. “He’s the last person I'd think would be on anybody's list whether you're pro-life or not,” he said, as reported by the London Free Press. Lamb was a former Campaign Life Coalition vice-president.

“I have a real hard time with it because the (abortion) issue hasn't even been properly debated in this country, and they want to make Henry Morgentaler a doctor of laws when there is no law?”

Morgentaler defied Canadian law by opening Canada’s first abortuary in 1968 in Montreal. He eventually succeeded in having Canada’s abortion restrictions stuck down thanks to Canada’s Charter of Rights. The abortionist still operates six clinics country-wide.
