BOMBAY, India, May 5 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Indian Medical Association is looking for international support to save baby girls from abortion in India. The Association says that up to two million baby girls are killed by abortion every year due to cultural preference for male babies. Dr. V Parameshvara, a former president of the Indian Medical Association, told the BBC that the situation has led to a demographic imbalance of up to 50 million fewer women in the country than normal. The doctors warn that the male-female ratio continues to plummet despite a law stipulating that abortion for sex-selection is not permitted.

The Association has asked the World Medical Association to support a campaign against the “social evils” of female feticide and female infanticide.
