Dead Student's Family to Sue Abortion Drug Marketers and Planned Parenthood
LOS ANGELES, October 11 2005, (LifeSiteNews.com) - In 2003, a 21 year-old student, Hoa Thuy Tran, died after taking the abortion drug regimen, RU-486, and now her family is suing the deadly drug's US marketer.
''She was not given any warnings of any risk of death, of any risk of infection,'' said attorney Mark G. Crawford, who is representing Tran's husband, Charlie Nguyen, and her 5-year-old daughter.
According to the suit which was filed last week in Orange County Superior Court, Tran took Mifeprex on Dec. 23, 2003 at a Planned Parenthood clinic. She collapsed and died six days later.
The infection risk with RU-486 is high, according to the findings of Professor Ralph P. Miech, a professor emeritus in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biotechnology at Brown University. Dr. Miech discovered that the drug's anti-progesterone effect causes changes in the cervix that allow C. sordellii, a common vaginal bacteria, to enter the cervical canal. The low-oxygen environment and the decaying foetal tissue provide an ideal environment in which the bacteria grows and produces a toxin that can be fatal.
The drug also suppresses the immune system which in combination with the growth of C. sordellii, can result in fatal septic shock.
The Trans' suit includes Danco Laboratories and Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino counties.
