Pro-Homosexual Rage Betrays Fear: Christians will Outlive Sterile Sexual Liberals
Publicity about happy family with 16 children sends California liberal over deep end
SAN FRANCISCO, October 20, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Judging from the almost unbelievable level of vitriol in a column in a San Francisco newspaper, one more item that the liberal champions of tolerance seem unable to tolerate is that of having a large family or being Christian.
SF Gate reports the apparently astonishing news that a family in Arkansas not only has delivered its sixteenth child, but plans to have more. In the SF Gate article, the paper blandly reports that parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar consider children a gift from God. The Discovery Health Channel and The Learning Channel are doing stories on the family. Jim Bob Duggar was an Arkansas state representative and the family has a website on which it unashamedly espouses Christian principles for family life.
All of which, apparently, is too much for SF Gate columnist Mark Morford. In what can only be described as an hysterical rant, Morford calls the Duggars every name his bias can generate, including, “creepy,” “bizarre,” “sad and lost.”
Morford calls the picture of the family arranged around their mother’s hospital bed, “worse than all the horrific rubble in Pakistan.” They are, to the pro-gay, pro-abortion sophisticates Morford represents, not a large happy family greeting a new human life, but “spotless white hyperreligious interchangeable people with alarmingly bad hair,” and “cookie-cutter Christian kidbots.”
Morford calls the desire to have a large family, “a weird pathological protofamily breeding-happy gluttony that's making the world groan and cry and recoil,” and a “bitter moral warpage resulting from a massive viral outbreak of homophobic neo-Christians across our troubled and Bush-ravaged land.”
At first the columnist’s naked hatred is puzzling until he reveals the source of his fear and loathing: the Christians are outbreeding his demographic group of social liberals. “Why does this sort of bizarre hyperbreeding only seem to afflict antiseptic megareligious families from the Midwest?” He answers his own question and admits that his fellow travellers are simply failing to reproduce.
“Where is the liberal, spiritualized, pro-sex flip side? Verily I say unto thee, it ain't lookin' good…Maybe the scales are tipping to the neoconservative, homogenous right in our culture simply because they tend not to give much of a damn for the ramifications of wanton breeding and environmental destruction and pious sanctimony, whereas those on the left actually seem to give a whit for the health of the planet and the dire effects of overpopulation.”
The answer to Morford’s puzzle was more coherently parsed in a March 2005 column by Mark Steyn in which he points out that the one demographic that is not likely to survive its own ideologies is that of the liberal secularists.
“In Europe a child is now an optional lifestyle accessory,” Steyn writes in the Telegraph. “The hyper-rationalism of post-Christian Europe turns out to be wholly irrational: what's the point of creating a secular utopia if it's only for one generation?”
