Homsexual Activist Scott Brison Seeking Liberal Party Leadership

OTTAWA, Ontario, April 24, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – MP Scott Brison, Canada’s first openly gay federal minister, announced yesterday he would run for the Liberal party leadership. A consistent supporter of same-sex marriage, abortion and euthanasia, Mr. Brison has a political track record that some suggest may hamper his leadership ambitions.
“Scott Brison hasn’t got a hope,” political science professor Nelson Wiseman, of the University of Toronto, told CanWest News. “He doesn’t have much history in the Liberal party, he’s part of the last government and also of course there’s the income trust thing.”
The “income trust thing” was a dubious incident in Mr. Brison’s recent political history involving allegations of an improper information leak last November, just prior to the government’s announcement of its new income trust taxation policy.
Mr. Brison admitted he sent an email to a senior banking friend, suggesting the acquaintance would be happy with the coming release. He initially denied any knowledge of the email, but then backtracked and admitted he sent it, saying he had not done anything wrong and had no access to inside information. The RCMP questioned Mr. Brison about the email during an ongoing investigation.
Also last November, Mr. Brison was forced to make a public apology for having lied when he accused PM Stephen Harper, then leader of the Conservative party, of breaking federal lobbying laws while he was president of the National Citizens Coalition. Mr. Brison admitted he had lied after the NCC threatened to sue for libel.
Scott Brison joined the Liberal party less than three years ago, leaving the Nova Scotia PC party after losing the party leadership race to Peter McKay.
